Induction

May 7, 2008

After a whistle-stop delivery session in Crewe, I was back where I belong…….. in Liscard!

This evening I attended an Induction for new councillors at the Town Hall. We attended presentations by the “Top Officers” at the council, and got to know them better.

Hopefully, now the formalities are out the way, and the real work can begin

  1. Congratulations James, on becoming one of the youngest councillors I can remember! I notice some people made sneering comments regarding your age on the Globe website, but it’s nice to see that other posters took the view that age is no bar to maturity and sensible policies!

I hope you along with your fellow “newbies” will start holding this council to account for its current and past mistakes, and I suspect you will be forming the next administration with a bit of luck. Tell Jeff not to back down, and to just let Foulkes dig himself into a hole, which he will inevitably do a’la 2003.

If you’ve met some of the “top officers” (in name only!), then you will know that a lot of work needs to be done at Wirral council, because many of its problems have come from the ineptitude of certain council officers as well as the ruling executive. I do fear that one or two of these officers will be (to quote your leader) “roadblocks to reform” and we know what happens to roadblocks - they get removed!
