Sure Start…

Well, not such a ’sure start’ for children living in Egremont….Last year our dedicated centre in the heart of Egremont was relocated to Liscard Primary School to cut costs - this was after a £16 million government funded report which found that Sure Start cash is failing to reach the most needy.

The facilities in the Sure Start building in Guildford Street were top of the range and many local people benefitted from the support - what a waste of tax payers money, when two years down the line, the building remains empty and unused.   It’s now to be partly demolished as plans have been submitted for a ‘change of use’ to the two main halls to create 4 self contained flats and 2, two storey houses.
